First Rotation

I'm so excited to report that I have officially started my third year of medical school. For those of you who are not familiar with my "professional student" status, I have been conducting research in physiology for about four years at Loma Linda University. Prior to that, I had finished the first two years of medical school. So I have been waiting almost half a decade to get back to the wards...

My first rotation was Family Medicine and began on Sept 4, 2006 at Kaiser Riverside. I am now starting my Internal Medicine rotation (October 2, 2006 - January 8, 2007) where I'll be on call every fourth night.

I'll post a few pictures from Kaiser Riverside soon. In the meantime, here is a list of the top 5 things about my first rotation:

  1. Fantastic residents to work with (four were from Loma Linda and actually were previous classmates of mine)
  2. Specialty clinics (derm, ortho, injection clinics)
  3. Dragon House right down the street (has separate vegetarian menu, better than Lotus Garden in LL but also more expensive)
  4. Being the only medical student at the clinic (so I got all the attention)
  5. No call
