Of Medicine, Ministries, and Media

Life on General Surgery S1 team has begun and, although I don't mind the clinical duties, I'm still not used to getting up at 4 am and working 12-14 hour days six days a week plus overnight call. So instead of dwelling on the hardships, I thought I would focus on the happier aspects of life.
  1. My last rotation was two weeks of neurosurgery where I helped screw bolts into people's spines and drill holes in their craniums. Didn't separate twins joined at the head or anything like that. Just boring old brain surgery...but it was so incredible to see (and touch) a pulsating human brain and recall how we truly are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14).
  2. The Loma Linda School of Medicine graduation was held on Sunday as well as the graduations for the dental school and school of pharmacy. It was a bittersweet day. Many of the graduates have been an integral part of the ministries here at Loma Linda including Restoration, Advent HOPE, and The Josiah Ministry. But most of all, they have been great friends and spiritual family. For those who are leaving, you'll never know how much I'll miss each of you. For those who are staying, I'm looking forward to more memories while serving the Lord together. Regardless, I'll post a photo album later.
  3. I contributed an article to the school newspaper of which a friend of mine, Jamie, is editor. The newspaper highlights many of the activities that conservative young people are coordinating through various campus organizations including LLUSA and Restoration. Click here to read the issue.
  4. Advent HOPE also has had an amazing year. In five short years, we've seen the group swell from around 20 or so to over 300 every week. We've also been blessed with great sermons which can be accessed at Audioverse for free. Last but not least, we've seen Advent HOPE members reaching out to those who have never heard the Three Angels' Messages through our various mission trips and outreach activities. A couple weekends ago, Advent HOPE hosted a Strawberry Festival-like event complete with year-end slideshow that highlighted the various aspects of our ministries here in Loma Linda. I have posted it on YouTube for those who were unable to attend. Who knows? You might recognize someone...

Oh yeah, and happy anniversary to my blog which turned two years old a couple days ago...
